Radish refers to the edible root vegetable. It is a fast growing and cold-season crop. There are many types of radishes such as turnip and daikon. They also varied in colors. Some are white while others are purple.
This time, Earth's children grew the Daikon radishes, which is also known as the white radishes. We are very familiar with them since white radishes often appear in Taiwanese home-made soup.
Our white radishes were about 10-25 centimeters long, not including the leaf. According to Mr. Hong, white radishes possess high-level nutrients and minerals such as Vitamin C, calcium and potassium. Therefore, white radishes are good for health, and it can improve our immune system. We were lucky to harvest the white-flesh one during the most profitable time. White radishes taste the sweetest in the winter, even though they can be harvested during all year. After Mr. Hong’s introduction, Earth’s children had a better understanding of white radishes.
