Our journey to Food Education
Earth’s Children are students from Taipei Fuhsing Private School. Most of the Earth’s Children live in urban areas. We don't have any farming experience. Farming is often one of the important parts of food education. Therefore, we really want to learn about farming. Through this unique experience, we learned to appreciate the food in our bowls.
Planning
Last year, Earth’s Children worked with the MOA Taiwan foundation to learn about natural farming. This year, our themes for the project are food education and natural farming. As the result, we felt like it would be great if we could plant our own crops and be the weekend farmers.
We cooperated with Grass Hope Taiwan Foundation to achieve our dream. During the discussion time, we voted to decide what types of vegetables we were going to grow. In the end, we decided that we would like to grow cabbages, white radishes and chrysanthemum. We would harvest the vegetables during winter time. Some of the team members wanted to cook a unique hot pot with the cabbages. Others wanted to experience the feeling of picking up white radishes. We were so happy that we could really learn to farm in the field. This was definitely a unforgettable experience for all the Earth's Children.
