The whole process all started with a barren land with nothing but weeds. Each of us worked to get rid of all these shrubs using either a hoe or a small scythe, even pulling out grasses through our bare hands. After cleaning up the land, we brought in a tiller: to loosen up the soil and to move the futile soil toward the surface. Though this step sounded simple, it took a lot of energy to even move the tiller forward a bit. We took turn to control the tiller, experiencing how much strength we needed to give out to control this beast. Imagining doing it without the tiller, this simple procedure might take us half day to complete. Next, we started digging trenches for us to walk and forming platforms, where we’re going to plant in the seeds. Again, we’re using the tiller to make these trenches and platforms. This time, not only strength was required, it also needed a certain technique to do it in a much more efficient way. We, as inexperienced farmers, made a mess in the field; thus, Mr. Hong helped us out with this part. Moving on to planting seeds of white carrot, as well as seedlings of cabbage and chrysanthemum, we dug little holes in soils to plant the seeds in. Then, we filled up the holes again; For the seedlings part, we still dug holes, but after that we putted in the seedlings, we surrounded the lower stem with soil to create a concrete foundation. Now, finishing all steps of planting, it’s time for us to wait for our harvest.
