I hold complexed feelings for our second visit to the Hudi Community before it took place. On one hand, I can’t wait to see how the plants grow. On the other hand, I was afraid that it was going to be a tiring day, regarding our last visit. Surprisingly, it was a fun day without overwhelming work load. Our primary goal was to harvest the white reddish. I felt so exciting when I saw the white reddish growing so well on the field we once prepared. After listening to the instruction, we started to harvest our white reddish. It was an interesting task. We had to first identify our target among all the other plants. Then pull it out skillfully. The strength you apply when pulling the white reddish out of the soil can’t be to strong or it will break into halves. It took some practices to master at it but overall it was not difficult. We got to taste the fresh white reddish immediately after we pulled it out from the soil. It tasted amazing. The fresh white reddish was rich in flavor and it was very sweet. This was a good part of natural farming. You can enjoy the food directly without extra peeling or cleaning. I am so proud for our result.

This was my first time visiting the Hudi community. I think the residents there live a very pleasant life. Most of them make a living by farming. The main purpose of the visit this time was to experience how to be a farmer. Our day was divided into two parts. In the morning, we harvested the white radish we've planted months ago. Although they did not grow as big as the white radish in the market, it was really gratifying to see that seeds can grow well without applying fertilizer or pesticides. In the Afternoon, Dean Yen led us to visit the Hudi community. From his introduction, I learnt the history of Hudi community. We've visited an ancient house that has stood for century. I was also inspired by Dean Yen's passion and the effort he put in transformed Hushan Elementary school.
