After visiting the Hudi community, Earth children analyzed the experiences and promoted to peers during weekdays. In Ms. Lai’s class, eleventh graders use ppt to introduce Food Education to classmates, while tenth graders introduced during the morning session.
Earth children first talked about background information of the Hudi Community, which Mr. Yen provided to us. Then, Earth children mentioned the idea of organic and natural farming that were applied to Hudi Community, and some classmates asked about organic farming. They only thought of organic farming as healthy vegetables, so Earth children explained the whole concept to them. Furthermore, Earth children used turnips, cabbage, and vegetables that earth children had planted as examples to demonstrate organic, natural farming. At the end, the classmates asked several questions about the process, such as how to plant these vegetables and how were the taste of vegetables that Earth children planted.
I used to think farming is an exhausted activity for elders to do since I went to farming with my grandfather when I was young. In my opinion, the most engaging activity is pulling the turnips. Although pulling turnips required lots of efforts, the moment I tasted our own turnips that we pulled, I thought it was worthy. I hope my peers can have a whole new understanding of farming after this promotion session.
