Louis Cha(金庸)

Cha Jing-yong, better known by his pseudonym "Jin Yong" , is a major authority of the wuxia (lit. martial arts heroes) genre. From The Book and the Sword in 1955 to The Deer and the Cauldron in 1972, Jin Yong wrote a total of 15 novels, each one setting a new standard and massively popular among Chinese speakers. His popularity gave rise to the saying "where there are Chinese, there are Jin Yong's wuxia novels". Due to his unmatched literary prowess he is hailed as one of the "Three Legs of the Tripod of Wuxia". Jin Yong's novels are written in the unique style of the traditional Chinese novel in order to immerse readers in the story. His stories feature various conflicts between characters, creating multi-faceted plot arcs and characters that never fail to pull readers in. Most importantly, every female character in Jin Yong's novels are given a nuanced personality and a strong sense of self-awareness — often times they are also pivotal to the story, a refreshing note of progressiveness given the thousands of years of diminished female representation in Chinese history.

He has written numerous sensational wuxia novels starting from the 1960s, and many of his works were adapted into television series and movies. He is known as one of the "Three Legs of the Tripod of Wuxia". Gulong’s works reflect his own feeling about modern society - as a result, his characters are colorful in personality and lack the long path to mastery characteristic of traditional wuxia novels. Even though Gulong writes about the ancient martial arts world, the characters he creates are very relatable even as a modern reader.
