Special Weapons

1.Tonfa
The tonfa, also known as the guai, is said to have evolved from farming tools such as the handle of a stone mill or a cane. The tonfa, one of the Eighteen Arms of Wushu, is popular in Okinawa, southern China, and Southeast Asia.

2.Hook Sword
The hook sword is a multi-bladed, traditional Chinese weapon with foreign roots. Evolved from the dagger-axe, the hook sword used to be popular in northern Chinese schools of martial arts, but now mostly southern schools use it.

3.Sai
The sai is a melee weapon used in Southeast Asia that, although short, can be used to combat all sorts of other weapons, such as swords, staffs, and spears. Basic techniques include the swing, thrust, and hook. It is extremely versatile and can also be used as a throwing weapon.

4.Deer Horn Knives
Deer horn knives are specialized melee weapons that are always used in pairs. They originate from the Spring and Autumn period in China, but slowly became ceremonial and ornamental weapons due to their lack of offensive capability. As a fist weapon, deer horn knives can be wielded with great speed and precision.

5.Nunchaku
The nunchaku is a melee weapon that consists of two sticks, made of wood or metal, connected at one end by a short chain or rope. It is said to have been invented by Emperor Taizu of Song, the only difference being that the sticks were of uneven lengths at the time. Starting from the Song dynasty, nunchaku became a prevalent weapon in the Central Plain area in China. The nunchaku rose to international fame along with martial arts superstar Bruce Lee, who used it multiple times in his movies.
