The utensils used in Japanese tea ceremony:
- Chawan: a bowl used to drink tea
- Chashaku: a bamboo ladle used to scoop tea powder
- Kensui: a container for disused water
- Chasen: a brush made from bamboo used to foam the tea
- Chakin: a piece of cloth to wipe the chawan
- Kama: a pot for boiling the water
- Small dish: to serve the dessert
- Natsume(Chaire): a container for tea powder
In Japanese tea ceremony, the tray plays an important role. It is best that we choose a tray with a diameter of 40 centimeters. The natsume is placed at the right side of the tray. On the left are the chawan, the chakin, and the chashaku. The chasen is put in the chawan. When the tea ceremony starts, the host brings out the tray and places it in a position that is reachable for both the host and the guests. Once everything is set, the host may start to make tea for the guests.
