SOW Pride

Based on the survival instinct, humans have started to pursue better and higher living standards through modernization and technology improvement. However, at the same time, humans have changed Earth’s original ecological environment. It should be our responsibility to start managing human impact on the natural environment and restore nature to its original form, from eco-systems, animals, plants to even air and water. This is not just for our generation, but for future generations to come.

Through years of hard work, the Society of Wilderness (SOW) has established its reputation and gained more recognition. SOW has had many successful campaigns in the past. In 2010, the “Climate Vanguard - #1 Immediate Action to Protect the Earth” campaign received much attention, followed by SEE Award and “Eco-Echo Award - Ecological Conservation Hope Project” campaign in 2015. Other campaigns such as “Shuanglianpi Conservation of Endangered Plants” and “Education Promotion Plan” have all gained recognition from the general public and governments. Such recognition provided the foundation for SOW to achieve better results.

Although still small in terms of numbers, through conservation works, many species that have disappeared in the past have now returned to the Shuanglianpi habitat. SOW decided to build a pound to be the shelter of aquatic plants and implement on-site conservation. In addition to preserving precious endangered species, SOW is also doing research and making preparations to restore the habitat with the goal to protect and nurture the endangered species. SOW also hopes that more people can learn about Shuanglianpi’s endangered species and conservation works.

With many recognition and awards, SOW continues to put effort in protecting and rebuilding the wilderness, allowing natural ecosystems and species to be reborn in the restored environment and create a sustainable ecological cycle – the circle of life. This also gives the Earth a natural environment where the wilderness can enjoy such natural ecology even in the modern world. If we can achieve this goal, it will be a glory to wilderness protection, and the highest pride to the planet.
