100th Anniversary of Birth of Taiwanese Female Japanese Painters - Chen Chin Exhibition

 Commemorating the 100th anniversary of Mrs. Chen Chin’s birth, a total of 80 paintings and sketches of Chen Chin's representative paintings were exhibited. Chen Chin was born in Taiwan's affluent families in 1907 and was taught by the Japanese painter Shang Yuan Gu Tong while attending the third female high school in Taipei. After graduation, she went to Japan Tokyo Girls' Art School to study fine arts. During college life, she was selected in the first Taiwan Fine Arts Exhibition. In 1934, she was the first Taiwanese female, which was selected in the Imperial's art exhibition, using the technique of gouache painting. The two compositions of "Ensemble" and "Leisurely" are traditional Japanese painting technique portrays female portraits with rich Taiwan local colors or portrays the interaction between characters to increase the touched feeling of the picture. Chen Chin is good at painting elegant ladies and flower to perform the local culture in Taiwan. Ladylike Ladies, elegant and modern, beautiful; flowers are traced by its inner character, reflecting the mood of contemplation.

 Chen Chin (1907-1998) The first woman painter in Taiwan during the Japanese occupation period was born in Niubu, Fragrant Hills, Hsinchu County. While studying in the third female high school in Taipei, she received the appreciation of Mr. Shang Yuan Gu Tong as a Japanese painter in the school. With the support of her father, she studied fine arts at the Tokyo Women's Fine Arts School in Japan in 1925. In 1927, for the first Taiwan Exhibition, Mrs. Chen Chin was selected in with three of her paintings "Pose," "Poppy Flower," and "朝." This year to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the main hall, a series of exciting activities has been launched. One of them is "Painting Modern - Chen Chin's Special Exhibition" which combines exhibition, collection and promotion of education. The exhibition will be on display from August 14 to October 4, 2015. The exhibits include the representative screen of the beautiful people and a total of 93 different theme works such as landscapes and flowers. Among them, the "Make-up", which was selected as the spring Imperial's exhibition in Japan in 1936, and a total of more than 30 pieces which were recently arranged by family members that will be exhibited for the first time. With the publication of the album on display, we invited Yen Juan Ying, Shi Shou Chien, Huang Kuang Nan, Lin Po Ting, Wang Yao Ting and many other scholars to write a monograph. This exhibition is really rare and special, so the audience can’t miss this exhibition!
