Mr. Lin Chih Chu was a gouache painter, during early years in Japan and Taiwan, he participated in the exhibition, mostly painting portraits. After the prime of life, he turned to birds and flowers and landscape painting as a masterpiece with a change of style in the middle for a while, developing in parallel with the "Western Painting Method of Japanese Painting". The concept and techniques of Western masters in the twentieth century were widely accepted . After that, gradually returned to the realistic performance, although the amount of his later works gradually declining, the style is steadier.(From Wikipedia)

In the early days of the Kuomintang government moving to Taiwan, Mr. Lin was haunted by the theory of "orthodox Chinese painting", but Japanese paintings using the name of "the second part of traditional Chinese painting" was even lower in status than ink painting. After Japan and Taiwan broke off diplomatic relations, there was no warning at the provincial exhibition to cancel "Chinese Painting Part 2". Due to this, affected Mr. Lin's intention of using "gouache" as the correct name so that "gouache" the word can be used officially above the name of the exhibition. (From Wikipedia)
